A $5-billion 3D printing machine is expected to be available to customers this year, with the maker of the machine saying it expects to be ready for customers by the end of this year.
The MakerBot Replicator 2, which is capable of printing in a range of materials, is priced at $3,995, with an MSRP of $1,999.
The machine can print objects up to 100 times the size of a traditional 3D Printer.

MakerBot Replication 2 is a new version of the company’s flagship Replicator 3, which was launched in April, 2017.
Replication 3 is capable in the following areas: printing in all sizes, shapes, and materials.
It can print with materials such as ABS, PLA, and even PETG.
Replicator’s current printers can produce objects in the range of a football field, up to about 100 times its size.
The Replicator 1, which launched in 2011, can print in a single layer, with a resolution of 1 millimeter.
Replica 3 is able to print in layers, in contrast to the original Replicator, which required multiple layers to print accurately.
The original Replicators were available in several sizes, including a 7-inch model.
The new machines, however, can handle larger objects, with more layers.
The company has previously announced that it is building a large-scale 3D-printed replica of the Starship Enterprise, which first appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Amok Time”.
The company says it is working with NASA and the Canadian Space Agency to make the new machine, which it hopes will become a useful tool for astronauts.
“The Replication is the first in a new generation of 3D printers that combine precision machining with cutting edge technology to make objects that look and function like real objects,” said MakerBot CEO Paul Gittel.
“This new machine can easily be scaled up to create thousands of objects.”
MakerBot is excited to be working with the U.S. Air Force, NASA and NASA Ames to make this new generation Replicator available to the public in 2019, so that people around the world can start designing, building, and using these new tools to create incredible objects.
